GYMNASTICS

GYMNASTICS sessions start Week 3 this term. Sessions will be weekly on a Thursday. It is likely our class will go first thing in the morning. The children should know what to wear and what not to wear as it's the same as previous years 👍
Please please please feel free to help out Room 15 during our sessions.

New Closed Group for Parents on Facebook...

Hi everyone,

I hope this finds you all well and enjoying the long weekend and school holidays.

I'm off to a Google Summit at Amesbury School for the next two days which is really exciting.  I'm looking forward to connecting with other educators and seeing what great things there are on offer.

The classes in Te Waharua Rua have a closed group on Facebook to share photos and events etc. As a parent of a child in one of those classes, I have been able to keep up to date with what is happening and the reminders have been great.

I thought I would see how it went for our class this term and we'll review it at the end.

Some of you are super busy and just seeing a snippet of what your child is doing throughout the day may be extremely valuable for evening discussions and conversations.
(Especially as they are becoming teenagers!!)

Please feel free to comment on the posts and photos. This is a closed group which means only the people in it can see the content of the page.  Please click on the link below if you have a facebook account and would like to be part of the group.  I will continue to keep the class blog up to date.  I'm curious to know how many of you visit it ;-)  Please feel free to comment on the blog posts also.

Let's see how it goes....

Regards,

Lucy

Values - Motivational Video

We had a discussion about values today.  We watched this clip as an introduction and a starting point for our discussion/debates on values we feel are important at Waikanae School.

Room 15 came up with many!

It is Autism Awareness today...

It is autism awareness day today and this clip is just a snippet of what our autistic students deal with every second of their lives.  The students of Room 15 are exceptionally considerate and supportive of Jaedyn and Mrs Johnson and I are extremely proud of them.

Some of our students wrote some poems, letters and stories.

Scared, overwhelmed, dumb, stupid, naughty
that may be what you think,
some of you look down at us like...outsiders,
Like a toddler stuck in a grown up body,
But really,
To me,
It’s physical pain, emotions, punching and kicking,
You can block noise,
But the same can't be said for us,
We listen,
We listen to every single thing that goes on around us,
Yes it scares us,we get overwhelmed,
But what the real cause is confusion,
We get confused at a lot of things,
On a daily basis,
So please, don't just turn away,
Help us,
And be our friends.
