Maths Fun

So far this term we have been learning about the components of a circle, using a compass to measure and draw circles etc. See an earlier post for some photos of that ;)

This fantastic activity was given to the children with NO guidance from me. I provided the instructions and the materials and it was up to the students to work through problem solving as they went. I saw collaboration, enjoyment, success and pride! Perfect!

I was so incredibly proud of them as not one child had an 'I give up' moment. We've got some amazing examples displayed around the room already. Go Room 15!!!

Technology

We are have a great experience each week attending Raumati Technology Centre sessions. Here are some pictures of the children in action. I think I'll have to avoid the cooking room as the amazing smell of delicious food is almost too much to bear at morning tea time! The children in the sewing room have learnt about using an iron today so I'm giving you parents the 'wink wink, nod nod' they should know what to do at home ;)

Survivor Day 2016!

What an experience Survivor Day was this year! It's been a wee while since Mrs Cameron has pulled an all nighter which was evident after she could hardly string a sentence together at 3pm on Friday!

Room 15 came out as Survivor Champions for 2016!!!!

New Scooter/Skateboard Ramps

We are so lucky at Waikanae School. The children are enjoying the new skateboard/scooter ramps Miss Williams organised for our morning tea and lunchtime enjoyment. They are being well used.
The main Ramp Rule is a helmet MUST be worn at all times :)

Our first #NZKidsEdChat

Participating classes across the country all took part in a mass twitter chat answering questions relating to a motivational video we all watched. It was such a cool experience that we think it may become a regular thing. Everyone was engaged and responding so responsibly to the questions. We all used the one class twitter account that I manage which is a safe and encouraging way to teach and use social media effectively.
